As managing principal at JRS, Wayne Swanton oversees the firm’s day-to-day operations, shepherds its large-scale ventures, and champions the integration of advanced technological approaches in service of resilient and vibrant design.

Since joining JRS in 2003, he has played a pivotal role in helping to grow the practice and consolidate its standing as one of Canada’s preeminent landscape and urban design studios. A consummate problem-solver, respected mentor, and creative collaborator capable of balancing big-picture considerations with an unflagging attention to detail, Wayne has earned a reputation, with both clients and colleagues, for being a clear-sighted leader and trusted advisor.

Wayne is an ardent city builder who believes in the power of uplifting landscape architecture and intelligent urban design to foster ecological renewal, vitalize communities, and create spaces for joy. His expertise lies in the design and delivery of large and complex urban projects, from parks and public realm schemes to master plans and mixed-use developments. He is also an active member of the City of Vaughan Design Review Panel, where he works directly with municipal staff to advise on strategies related to public realm design.
