Janet Rosenberg selected to the Jury for the SHIFT2025 Challenge

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) has announced the SHIFT2025 Challenge. Janet Rosenberg, Founding Principal of JRS, has been selected to this year’s jury.

The SHIFT Architecture Challenge is an aspirational, biennial OAA program that showcases the unique contributions of the architecture profession and architectural thinking in addressing important societal issues. This program invites OAA members, aspiring architects, and their collaborative teams to respond to a specific area of concern by utilizing their skills and insights.

The SHIFT2025 Jury includes:

  • Janet Rosenberg, founding principal of Janet Rosenberg & Studio, and a renowned landscape architect with more than 40 years of experience and award-winning public and private projects
  • Elizabeth English, professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture and founder of the Buoyant Foundation Project
  • Erica Gomirato, intern architect at Perry + Perry Architects in Sudbury
  • Shane Laptiste, architect and founder of the Studio of Contemporary Architecture (SOCA) and 2023 Canadian Prix de Rome recipient
  • Jean Philippe Larocque, co-founder of Larocque Elder Architects and chair of the North Bay Society of Architects (NBSA)

The theme of SHIFT2025 is “Reshaping Communities.” It invites professionals to explore sustainable solutions that tackle the challenges posed by climate change and social changes. From urban revitalization and reimagining spaces to adaptations that respond to climate emergencies, SHIFT2025 seeks architectural ideas for our communities that enable all people to find stability, a sense of belonging, and hope.

Open to teams led by someone with OAA status, submissions are reviewed by the jury of experts to determine which proposals to spotlight.
