Joel Weeks Park – Official Opening Ceremony Saturday September 15, 2012

10 Thompson St. (Broadview Ave and Queen St. East). Community celebrations will take place between 12 pm – 8 pm.  Official opening ceremony at 2 pm.

Joel Weeks Park, located in downtown Toronto, just east of the Don River, embodies both the physical and historical context of the site as well as the social reality. The theme of ‘Urban River’ references the geographical and cultural heritage of the Don River. River plantings and sinuous benches frame old and new park elements. A central gathering space connects community gardens, a multi-functional sport court, a temporary market space, grassy berms, a children’s play area and a bosque of trees.
