JRS leads OALA Site Tour of the Rock Garden at Royal Botanical Gardens

This past weekend, Janet Rosenberg, Matt Perotto and members of the RBG team hosted a Site Walk for the OALA (Ontario Association of Landscape Architects) at the beautiful David Braley & Nancy Gordon Rock Garden at the RBG. It was fascinating to walk the gardens and discuss original design intent and how the gardens have evolved since their completion in 2016 – 8 years ago! The RBG were able to provide incredible insights into their maintenance strategies for this unique quarry microclimate, and how they position the Rock Garden to host a dynamic four-season calendar of events and programs that are critical to revenue generation.

Big thanks to Kim Viney (COO), Jon Peter (Curator & Plant Records), Jim Mack (Senior Director, Horticulture), and Alex Henerson (Curator of Living Collections/ Horticulturist), at the RBG for sharing their intimate working knowledge of the Rock Gardens, and all OALA participants for joining us on the tour.
