JRS Presenting at LABash 2025

JRS is featured on two talks at the 2025 LABash Conference:

Owning Computation (in Landscape Architecture) before it Owns You
Saturday, March 15, 2025 | 11:15 AM – 12:45 PM

University of Guelph, Location TBA
JRS Senior Associate Matt Perotto joins University of Guelph Assistant Professor Afshin Ashari to discuss how the emerging wave of parametric computation (PC) and artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping design in landscape architecture.

The session provides a deep dive into how forward-thinking professionals and academics are exploring contemporary tools to streamline workflows, uncover new design possibilities, and address real-world challenges. Through disciplinary review and case study, we’ll explore why PC and AI are becoming increasingly indispensable, where the field is heading, and practical considerations for staying ahead. Attendees will come away with a broader perspective on computational strategies and the confidence to integrate them effectively into their own academic and future professional practice.

Kìwekì Point – Big River Landscape
Saturday, March 15, 2025 | 3:30 – 4:30 PM

University of Guelph, Location TBA
JRS Managing Principal Wayne Swanton and Senior Associate Nicholas Gosselin will discuss Kìwekì Point.

Kìwekì Point is a prominent public realm landscape for the National Capital Commission in Ottawa. Recently completed, the project began with the ambitious goal of reconnecting the point with the Ottawa River. Since 1970, the conference has been held in North America by a different landscape architecture program each year and brings hundreds of students and professionals together to learn, network, and help shape the future of the profession.

This year’s conference, Reimagine LABash, celebrates innovation and reimagines the future of landscape architecture in response to emerging technologies, environmental stresses, and climate change.

Reimage LABash is at the University of Guelph from March 12 – 15, 2025.
