New Project: Town Park Master Plan, Richmond Hill
Posted June 2, 2017
JRS has been selected to collaborate with The Town of Richmond Hill on a Master Plan for Town Park
The Town Park Master Plan will guide the redevelopment of the park so that it aligns with the Town’s goals and objectives for parks and recreation, reflects the community’s current needs and continues to meet the needs of the Town as it evolves. The Town Park Master Plan will establish a conceptual vision, functional program and overall layout for a revitalized Town Park. Among other things, it will determine the type and location of outdoor recreation facilities to be provided in the park, the relationship between the park and the surrounding Downtown area, a vision for a renewed interface between the Elgin Barrow arena and the park, the amount of parking required for the site, and an overall place-making design theme for the park.
Town Park was the first public park, owned and operated by the incorporated Town of Richmond Hill. Its name is a result of the fact that it was the Town’s only park for several years. The opening of the park was celebrated on October 2, 1885 with a civic holiday, a procession led by the Richmond Hill Brass Band, two “grand” lacrosse matches and various competitive races and events.
Stay tuned for more information on this exciting project.
