This contemporary, year-round family vacation retreat is settled within pockets of natural forest on the shore of one of Southern Ontario’s beautiful Kawartha Lakes.

Natural materials such as stone and gravel complement the architecture and integrate the landscape with the natural environment. A low maintenance native plant strategy was designed to softly blend with the surrounding landscape and forest, creating a natural, seamless transition from cottage to water. Planting was completed by local gardeners who will continue with the maintenance for the property.

JRS was involved with all site planning on the property – from location of the home relative to the shoreline to septic, garage, and driveway – placing an emphasis on views from inside-out and the connection to the outdoors.
