The redevelopment of Toronto House (19 Duncan St) integrates a new 57-storey tower over the heritage-designated Southam Press Building, a five-storey heritage office building constructed in 1908. The new building extends alongside and over the existing 5.5-storey brick structure, adding vertical space and activating the ground level with a new Duncan Street frontage.

The mixed-use workspace and residential project by Westbank and Allied is anchored by Thomson Reuters. A large new amenity terrace and green roof complement the new workspace floors. The terrace is planted with gold beech trees, sage, alliums, and a diverse palette of drought-tolerant native species, including sumac, echinacea, and a variety of ornamental grasses. Surrounded by incredible city skyline views, the terrace provides flexible space for events and more casual uses.

A restaurant sidewalk patio at street level is accessed through new windows and doors thoughtfully integrated into the existing architecture. Streetscape paving is an exposed aggregate of marble and granite, providing a unique textured sidewalk rare in Toronto. A raised planter on the north side of the building showcases a lush, unique sedge native to Ontario. Although it was challenging to incorporate trees due to the presence of utilities, JRS worked closely with the City to carefully integrate four trees along Adelaide Street.
