Project Update: Richmond Hill Civic Park

In early 2024, JRS began designing the City of Richmond Hill’s sixth and newest destination park in front of the Central Branch Library at Yonge St and Major Mackenzie Drive, intended to host the civic life of and celebrate the cultural diversity of the City. The project will see the implementation of an interim condition park – a first phase of the future build-out of Richmond Hill’s Civic Precinct Plan that will catalyze the continued renaissance of Richmond Hill’s historic Village Core.

Leveraging JRS’s novel Sustainability Program workflows, JRS developed two design concepts to the public and stakeholder groups (including the Public Library Board, the Recreation and Culture Division, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Design Review Board) in October and November 2024. Feedback from these engagement sessions was combined with over 400 responses received to an online survey and will contribute to a consolidated plan that will be presented to staff and Council in 2025.

We’re excited for what the future has in store for Richmond Hill!
