Spreading the Warmth: Allan Gardens Plan Featured in Spacing Magazine

Spreading the warmth: A plan to expand the conservatory in Allan Gardens will enhance this place of greenery, calm, and respite

In this Spacing Magazine article, Alex Kharabian describes the year-round benefits that Allan Gardens brings to residents in Downtown Toronto and the proposed plan to expand the conservatory, led by Friends of Allan Gardens with JRS, Zeidler Architects, and ERA Architects.

The free conservatory at Allan Gardens provides a place of refuge for all Torontonians. As JRS Founding Principal Janet Rosenberg notes, “these parks are vital social infrastructure – our collective backyard.” As the city’s density increases, greenspaces such as Allan Gardens are especially important during the city’s cold winter months. Kharabian writes that the conservatory “offers a place where a person can slow down for a while and be among living things, even in the middle of the winter.”

JRS is proud to be a part of this initiative to expand one of Toronto’s most beloved urban green spaces!
