Grand Reopening of the Alexandra Park Basketball Court

Connecting and investing in community and recognizing the importance of sports for youth.

On September 19th, JRS joined Alexandra Park residents, Toronto’s Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik, sports enthusiasts, media, and special guests John Tavares and Pascal Siakam to celebrate the grand reopening of the refinished basketball court at the Alexandra Park Community Centre in Toronto. A second basketball court refurbishment is in the works and will include a local artist collaboration.

JRS was thrilled to volunteer our services to support the renovation of the court. This important community initiative was made possible through a joint initiative by Their Opportunity, the John Tavares Foundation, the PS43 Foundation, Tridel, Toronto Community Housing (TCHC), and the Alexandra Park Community Centre (APCC). The renovations to Court 1 included resurfacing, line painting, new ball retention fencing, replacement of the basketball nets, and the addition of new equipment including hockey nets for ball hockey.

The collaborative effort to renovate the basketball court at Alexandra Park is a testament to the power of partnership and community-driven initiatives. It is an inspiring example of how sports can unite and empower a neighbourhood. To contribute to the Alexandra Park Community Centre, click here.

JRS has been involved in the Revitalization of Alexandra Park since 2012 and continues to actively work on Phase 2 with TCHC and Tridel.
