Aqualuna is a sculptural 16-storey residence that forms an important piece of the master planned Bayside community, developed by Tridel and Hines. The building is distinguished by two tower “peaks” and cascading terraces that organically wrap around the façade, connecting residents to Lake Ontario through maximized waterfront views.

The development includes 225 condominium units, each with access to generous private outdoor space. Aqualuna also features a shared amenity terrace with a swimming pool, green roofs, and approximately 18,000 square feet of ground-level retail.

JRS led the landscape design, emphasizing natural materials and resilient planting strategies that respond to the waterfront environment. The outdoor amenity areas incorporate wooden decking, elegant planters with native and drought-tolerant plantings. The green roofs are designed for biodiversity, with a custom wildflower mix and 6 inches of soil to ensure plant health. On the shared amenity terrace, white marble banding playfully weaves through the decking, adding a tactile layer of detail to this communal space.

Sustainability was central to the project’s design and execution. Aqualuna is targeting LEED® Platinum certification and meets Tier 2 of the Toronto Green Standard (TGS). JRS is proud to have collaborated on this transformative project, helping to shape a new model for sustainable waterfront living in Toronto through design excellence expressed in every detail.
