Festival Plaza is a 4-acre site at the heart of Windsor’s central riverfront. Formerly a parking lot, the new event park will feature an iconic canopy structure, improved stage and support facilities, and special programming areas. The canopy is optimized for solar and wind control through all seasons and features lighting activations to support programming and site activities year-round.

Influenced by the natural and cultural history of the site, the landscape design features a series of landscaped ‘islands’ – inspired by the twenty-eight unique islands along the Detroit River – strategically located to create dynamic experiences integrated with the existing riverfront trail. The site also features a rain garden, wetlands, and a 20,000 sq ft lawn area designed for passive use, recreational activities, special programming, and sponsored events throughout the year.
