The Healing Garden on the 14th floor of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto occupies an inaccessible internal courtyard that is highly visible from surrounding patient rooms.

The Studio used nature as an inspiration for an uplifting design comprised entirely of artificial materials. Delicate hand blown glass flowers in a myriad of vibrant colours and shapes result in a painterly and textured ‘garden’ framed by boxwood parterres in an ornate, formal geometry. To imbue the garden with meaning, flowers can be dedicated to a loved one or staff member in an expression of gratitude and support.

As the project evolved an architectural renovation of the lobby was added to the scope.

Floor to ceiling glass windows allow patients, family members and staff an interior space to relax and enjoy the garden. The result is a healing garden rich in colour and natural forms, and perhaps most importantly a symbol of perpetual renewal. Flowers dedicated through The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF) will support the mission to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime.
