Kìwekì Point Featured in Ground Quarterly

Kìwekì Point was recently featured in Ground: Landscape Architecture Quarterly, the official publication of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects!

This issue of Ground is focused on the theme of placekeeping, the active and ongoing care of a place to “preserve its cultural, historical, and ecological essence.”

The feature, “Up Front: Information on the Ground,” outlines how the natural and built elements of Kìwekì Point support wayfinding, beyond physical navigation, by encouraging reflection on identity, belief, and connection to the land.

Located on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabeg territory, the park honours Indigenous presence while acknowledging the layered complexity of its past, present, and future.

The article was written by Kimia Jouyandeh, MLA student at the University of Guelph and Summer Student with the National Capital Commission (NCC), and Coleman Ney, OALA, Landscape Architect at the NCC, with photography by Michael Napiorkowski.
